Erill la Vall: A Starlight-Class Sky
In Erill la Vall, when night falls, the show begins. This small village in the Pyrenees, home to Hostal La Plaça, is part of a Starlight Tourist Destination, a distinction awarded to places with dark, clear skies that are ideal for stargazing. And here, the stars are not just seen… they are experienced.
A sky without light pollution
Far from city lights, the Vall de Boí offers one of the purest skies in Catalonia. In fact, the entire area has been recognized as a Starlight Reserve and Tourist Destination by UNESCO and the Starlight Foundation. This means you can see the Milky Way clearly, distinguish constellations, and feel the silence of the sky like few places on Earth.
Activities that make you look up
From Hostal La Plaça, many visitors take advantage of clear nights to walk through the surrounding areas and do some stargazing. Whether you’re an enthusiast or just curious, guided outings, night workshops, and walks under the stars are common in the summer.
Prefer something more intimate? A glass of local wine on the terrace of our restaurant, with the Pyrenees on the horizon and a sky full of stars above you, is worth an entire galaxy.
When to visit?
The best seasons for stargazing are spring and autumn, thanks to the good thermal contrast and lower cloud presence. But any moonless night can give you an unforgettable sky.
