Winter in the Boí Valley: nature, snow and traditions at the foot of the Pyrenees

When the cold reaches the mountain peaks and snow blankets the landscapes of the Vall de Boí, nature transforms into an idyllic winter setting: snow-covered mountains, stone villages, and a peaceful atmosphere. From Hostal La Plaça, we invite you to discover all the winter activities that make this corner of the Pyrenees a magical destination during the coldest months.

⛷️ Boí Taüll, the highest ski resort in the Pyrenees
Just a few minutes from the hostal, Boí Taüll offers excellent conditions for snow sports. With slopes reaching over 2,750 metres, it's perfect for both beginners and experienced skiers looking for technical, uncrowded pistes.
There are also areas for snowboarding, freeride, ski mountaineering, and cross-country skiing.

❄️ Snowshoeing and hikes through snowy forests
If you prefer a quieter and more immersive experience, snowshoe routes are ideal to explore the frozen landscapes and forests of the Aigüestortes and Sant Maurici National Park. With guided or self-guided outings, you’ll enjoy the silence of winter as you walk white trails surrounded by pines and frozen streams.

🔥 Tradition, cuisine and relaxation
Winter in the valley isn’t just about sport. Visit Romanesque villages like Taüll, Boí or Barruera, where warm lights and the scent of wood smoke accompany you. In the evening, savour mountain cuisine: hearty dishes like escudella, grilled meats, or local cheeses and cured meats that warm the soul.
And if your body asks for rest, enjoy a wellness session at Caldes de Boí, with its natural thermal waters, or simply relax at our hostal by the fireplace.
